Box Score ENID, Okla.- Facing elimination, the Ouachita Tigers baseball team came through again, downing the Wonderboys of Arkansas Tech University and becoming one of the last three teams remaining in the GAC Tournament. Ouachita took a 13-7 victory over Tech after scoring seven runs in the second inning and never looking back.
Ouachita's
Beau Martin ended up taking the victory after coming in to relieve starter
Josh Everett. Martin threw 4.1 innings, holding the Wonderboys to seven hits and two runs. Seven of the Tigers nine batters in the lineup finished the game with at least one RBI, while
Tom Ward,
Clayton Brandt and
Duncan Collins all added two. Ward finished the game 4-of-5 from the plate, including a home run and two runs scored.
Arkansas Tech's Zak Anstine took the loss, throwing 1.1 innings and giving up six hits and six runs to the Tigers. Tech ended up using five pitchers before the conclusion of the game. Cesar Abreu had a huge game for Tech, finishing with a 3-of-3 performance from the plate and a run scored while also adding four RBI's, but it wasn't enough to fuel the Wonderboys to victory.
Ouachita doesn't have much time to prepare for their next game, as it begins at 8:35 p.m. against Southeastern Oklahoma State, who defeated the Tigers by a score of 1-0 in the Tigers first game of the tournament on Friday. The winner of tonight's game will advance to Monday's championship contest against Southern Arkansas. Since Southern Arkansas has not yet lost a game, the winner of tonight's semi-final match-up will have to win two games against the Muleriders.
