Memphis, TN – In their opening match of the season the OBU Tiger men's tennis team won a decisive victory over Christian Brothers of Memphis, TN.
Ouachita jumped to a quick 3-0 lead in the points by winning all of the doubles matches. First off the court were
Ernesto Laborda and
Ramon Abaitua at the #2 position with an 8-0 win over Justin and Ericsson Gallinato. At #1 spot OBU's
Marko Boskovic and
Kenny Brasil finished with an 8-1 win over CBU's Kevin Johnson and Justin Gallagher. CBU had to default the #3 position. The Tigers went into the singles matches with a 3-0 lead needing only two points to finish the match.
At the #4 singles spot
Ramon Abaitua made quick work of Mark Gallinato 6-0. 6-0. Teammate
Kenny Brasil clinched the fifth and deciding point over Justin Gallagher with a 6-0, 6-0 victory. The remaining OBU players
Helge Knuth,
Marko Boskovic, and James Ingrahm also won convincingly.
“The guys were focused and played hard. This also gave the new guys an opportunity to understand the dual match format a little better. It was good to get started with our regular season matches.” said OBU Coach
Craig Ward.
Ouachita next takes on NCAA Division I opponent University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, Saturday, February 3 at 1PM at the Heflin Tennis Center.
